Normally in the February half term holidays we stay at home. The weather isn’t great, so I usually think ‘save it for another day.’ But not this year! We wanted to break up the long winter by getting away somewhere – somewhere not too far or complicated. We decided to go to the seaside town of Deal in Kent.
It is a very interesting place to be when the temperature is 5 degrees and there is a 60mph wind. The secret to warmth is layers…LOTS of layers!
We stayed in the conservation area just set back from the seafront. It is a myriad of narrow streets, filled with old fisherman/smuggler cottages and I’ve had a serious case of holiday cottage envy!
And in particular, I’ve had cottage door envy! We were greeted by a delightful front door with stained glass panels and after making my own stained glass panels for our front door, I have a new found appreciation for this craft considering all the hours it takes to create each panel.
Our delightful cottage door set me (and my camera) in motion around the narrow streets of Deal. To choose a favourite is nigh on impossible for me – but maybe you have a favourite???
